His specialized disciplines include MMA, Jiu Jitsu, striking, and wrestling with specified expertise in no gi submission grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the gi. With over 12 years of experience teaching all levels of children and adults alike. From the hobbyist to the most serious of competitors in Texas, Australia and Colorado.

Advancing from white belt to black belt at Peak Performance in Keller, Texas, under the leadership of owner and instructor Paul Halme, Philip was promoted to black belt in December of 2014 with additional technical coaching and guidance from Travis Lutter and Pete Runez. Prior to his black belt, early training experience was focused on mixed martial arts, including a year and a half of training in boxing prior to beginning training in MMA and Jiu Jitsu with Peak Performance.

His first MMA fight occurred in February 2009 in Hobbs, New Mexico, followed by two more fights in August 2009 and February 2010 in Fort Worth and Arlington, Texas. Philip finished with a 2-1 record in sanctioned amateur bouts.

Notable black belt tournaments include the 2015 International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Dallas Open with adult black belt absolute bronze medals for gi and no gi.

2019 IBJJF American Nationals adult black belt no gi middleweight bronze medal.

His passion for Jiu Jitsu was solidified after his first trip competing at the IBJJF Gi World Championships in June 2011 as a purple belt. From there he decided to devote 100 percent of his training to grappling with the ultimate goal of chasing an International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation World Championship.

As a trainer and teacher, Philip is knowledgeable, patient, and versatile; and he works well with people of all ages.
